Do we Indians find anything peculiar about corruption? Do Indians tolerate corrupt individuals rather than correct them? While no race can be congenitally corrupt, can a race be corrupted by its culture? Does corruption emenate from our religious practices?
Is Religion transactional in India? Indians give God cash / equivalent and anticipate an out-of-turn reward without linking the reward to hard work / ability. Belief that such a ‘transaction’ works, acknowledges that favours are right to get the undeserving something they want. In the world outside the temple walls, such a transaction is called a bribe. A wealthy Indian gives cash & valuables (gold, jewels, diamonds) to the gods, but not to the poor. His pay-off is to God. Does he think it will be ‘wasted’ if it goes to the needy?
India’s ‘houses of god’ collect so much gold, jewels, etc that they don’t know what to do with it. Billions are gathering dust in vaults. Do Indians believe that if the ‘houses of god’ who are representatives of God accept money for favours, then nothing is wrong in us people doing the same? Is this why we Indians are so easily corruptible? Does Indian culture accommodate the morality of such ‘transactions’?
Or am I delusional???
