The BJP’s attitude on crackers, bengal violence and on reforming India’s school curriculum reiterates what I have always observed. That there is more empty space on BJP’s social ‘right’ than is believed.

Economically, BJP covers a much much wider spectrum than is estimated. For every single act of privatisation, the BJP has done many more acts of social welfarism. For every IPO, soaring FDI & highest ever markets, they have Ayushman Bharat and farmers pensions. They simply cannot be challenged economically at present despite the 2017-2020 period of economic slippage given that the post pandemic recovery will be strong for atleast 2 or 3 yrs.

The current opposition has nothing to show in that social & economic ‘right’ space, so they are trying to attack BJP from the social & economic left, where there is literally no space.

As I’ve mentioned a few times, RaGa, Mamata, Kejri, Stalin, KCR, Jagan, Akhilesh, Tejaswi & Owaisi are all fighting for the same block of votes which sit on BJPs social ‘left’, while they all ignore the yawning gap on BJPs social ‘right’.

The big challenge for the BJP will come from its right socially. Maybe in 10 yrs or maybe sooner. And I hope it comes sooner. Either from within the party or from outside…

I want to see a political ideology which promises me real leadership with a full Chanakyan style government, not the Ashokan style paternalistic nonsense we’ve had since our independence.
